About

Visualizing and creating many new pages in my mind..I’ve finally arrived here…writing all my ideas down.

Welcome to Twistedvines.

I’m Yvette, the author of these pages. You’ll find the things that I love on these pages. The love of food and food styling. The captured images with my camera, the love of my art, white linen, old world vintage and black and white  photographs and my passion for ‘La Dolce Vita’. The good life…sweet life. I’m a graphic designer, touched on interior design and thrive on decorating. And I guess, it’s time to pick up a paint brush and paint and colour your world with mine.

I’ve traveled around the wide open spaces of Australia, many parts of Europe and experienced the Italian culture and lifestyle for many years. This blog is my space, where I’m the designer, the stylist, the cook, the cleaner and the server. The server of delicious home style recipes, of techniques, of tradition and most of all that secret…yes, the secret ingredient of love. I carry with me the line ‘art on a plate’, that’s how I see my dishes I create… as art. I love the sweet things in life. Desserts are always on my menu.

FAQ:

Why Twistedvines?

With two cultures and styles of lifestyle …(Australia/Italy)…each were entwined…a new type of  living.  I’ve had new experiences both in food and wine. Experienced four seasons and two languages, time zones and life in an adventure.

Why did you start this blog?

It’s my glossy magazine…glossy pages of the things I love. Just an expression of my personality and character. I’ve always written in a diary, or journal and I’m never without pen and paper. Whenever I find a saying or theme I love, I jot it down. The name of a colour or a reflective quote that catches my eye. I’m no writer, but I’d love to someday write a book, with many of my favourite recipes and photo’s. Until then, this is where I…C R E A T E.

Your ultimate shared dinner party menu…

I love the outdoors, at sunset…flowing into a comfortable breezy night time of fairy lights and candles. The most important part for me is not only the food but a theme for the evening. The table setting is so important to the atmosphere of the evening. I usually choose a colour in season with fresh vegetables and flowers available. If knowing my dinner party guests and depending on the season I usually choose the menu around them. Lovers of seafood, Meat Lovers, All Veggies..whatever, I go to my huge supply of cookbooks and favourites and choose from entrees through to coffee and chocolates. If I have time …I love doing tris entrees they’re alot of work, but always a great starter.

I’d love to invite you all to a Christmas Dinner Party in our Aussie Summer.

Your  favourite Italian dish to share with friends…

A slow cooked osso buco, served on a bed of rosemary and garlic buttered polenta.

And your Aussie favourite…

You can’t beat our Aussie barbequed lobsters and prawns…and a whole lot of fresh chilli poured in.

Something Inspirational

Good Thoughts

Good thoughts are the threads

With which we WEAVE the web of life;

The threads which build

The STRONG and fibrous cloth

We know as CHARACTER.

And, like the patterns,

That looms of modern science WEAVE,

Our lives can be no lovelier,

No stronger, than the THREADS

From which our LIVES are MADE.

I hope you enjoy your visit to this corner of my world.
