Alive

As she sits in front of her lifeline to a magical world of people with talents, inspirations and affirmations. She sits on a shaken limb of doubt and fear. In her mind, there are inner voices , some soft whispers, others roaring screams. A childhood memory carved deep within, a world of competition, innocence and sadness. A destructive world feeling second best, of non achieving, playing with shadows. The faded memories of laughter and song, of happiness. Memories that she thought had been pushed behind a high sturdy wall, never to crumble, memories that had been locked away in a box and the key thrown away, never to be opened again. She knows how hard it’s been to block out those voices and dance in front of those shadows. The sacrifices that she’s made and new promises that she’s kept to herself, to never go back to that world. So why, is life a circle? Why do those whispers become a hum of destruction. She always thought life was a path, and at crossroads, decisions were made.  Turn …

White

If there was one colour in my life, I’d have to say  W H I T E. Why? I love the crispness, the cleanliness and purity of how a room can change. Could we be safe and happy behind our white picket fences around our homes? The colour of  food brought out on a clean white plate. The framing of a room with clean white walls. The tone of our skin under a crisp white linen shirt. The outside view looking through a white window frame. “ The first of all single colors is white…We shall set down white for the representative of light, without which no color can be seen, yellow for the earth; green for water; blue for air; red for fire; and black for total darkness.” Leonardo Di Vinci White is the colour that belongs to the feng shui element of Metal. It’s feng shui energy is crisp, clear, clean and fresh. White is the colour of beginnings, as well as clear endings.White is the most versatile colour that can help brighten …

Principles of Motherhood

If it was going to be easy, it never would have started with something called ‘labor’ The best way to keep kids at home is to make the home a pleasant atmosphere – and to let the air out of the tires. The joy of motherhood: What a woman experiences when all the children are finally in bed. Life’s golden age is when the kids are too old to need baby-sitters and too young to borrow the family car. Any child can tell that the sole purpose of a middle name is so he can tell when he’s really in trouble. Grandparents are similar to a piece of string – handy to have around and easily wrapped around the fingers of grandchildren. There are three ways to get something done:Do it yourself, hire someone to do it, or forbid your children to do it. Adolescence is the age when children try to bring up their parents. Oh to be only half as wonderful as my child thought I was when he was small, and half as …

Textures and the ever Changing Mode.

Time has passed since my last post, and I’ve missed writing in this creative journal of mine.I’ve been itching to get back into it, truth being how do I push off from this starting point? Do I have the opportunity to take a new innovative direction? Should I change anything? What are you as the reader wanting to read, see, hear? What am I really wanting to write, learn, cook, paint? Yes,I think it’s time to put some new colour into my world! How can I capture your intriguing eyes and voice? I’ve had time with family and friends, reminiscing over good food, wine, music and the younger years, and interesting enough, hearing the reactions of those dear friends to this little blog of mine. My time was also thinking about the many directions and avenues life can take us. The influences of surrounding ourselves with positive attitudes, thoughts and knowledge. Sifting through the many voices and listening to those little whispers of encouragement to move on. Those influencing whispers to strive to achieve many of …
