Alive

As she sits in front of her lifeline to a magical world of people with talents, inspirations and affirmations. She sits on a shaken limb of doubt and fear. In her mind, there are inner voices , some soft whispers, others roaring screams.

A childhood memory carved deep within, a world of competition, innocence and sadness. A destructive world feeling second best, of non achieving, playing with shadows. The faded memories of laughter and song, of happiness.

Memories that she thought had been pushed behind a high sturdy wall, never to crumble, memories that had been locked away in a box and the key thrown away, never to be opened again.

She knows how hard it’s been to block out those voices and dance in front of those shadows. The sacrifices that she’s made and new promises that she’s kept to herself, to never go back to that world. So why, is life a circle? Why do those whispers become a hum of destruction.

She always thought life was a path, and at crossroads, decisions were made.  Turn left with hope and faith. Turn right with trust and love.

Walk with her head held high and tackle any set  backs. Walk with her head held high and laugh at the negative calls. Walk with the expression of love in her eyes, and over ride the wrinkles and tears, of ageless flaws, of learning wisdom. Growing in strength.

Sharing the love of opened arms and heartfelt caresses. Hiding the shame of closed doors and windows. Feeling the breeze of seasons change, float on a cloud of stormy weather, rest her head in a pillow of dreams.

D R E A M S

She holds onto her dreams and fights for her flightful freedom, her passions, to one day spread wings on her creative life’s calling.

To be ALIVE.

She is ALIVE.

White

If there was one colour in my life, I’d have to say  W H I T E. Why? I love the crispness, the cleanliness and purity of how a room can change. Could we be safe and happy behind our white picket fences around our homes? The colour of  food brought out on a clean white plate. The framing of a room with clean white walls. The tone of our skin under a crisp white linen shirt. The outside view looking through a white window frame.

White is the colour that belongs to the feng shui element of Metal. It’s feng shui energy is crisp, clear, clean and fresh. White is the colour of beginnings, as well as clear endings.White is the most versatile colour that can help brighten the energy of any challenging room.

How many times have you thought or said, ok, let’s clean the slate. Clean a space, clear everything to start creating again, start a fresh, a white new piece of paper to create a recipe ( usually a A4). A new piece of white paper to write a romantic poem, get lost in an adventurous story. A white canvas to paint with your imagination of colourful thoughts.

Take a little time

Time for a cuppa with me this afternoon and reminisce over the ‘Simple Little Pleasures’, a wonderfully written and  illustrated book by Thomas Kinkade. Full of beautiful quotes and images.

‘ Take joy in life’s simple little pleasures, and experience a new sense of romance in your life. When you put just a little time and energy into the things that bring you pleasure, make you feel alive, and affirm your special interests and talents, your world becomes more vivid and memorable. And your life becomes one you can savor, with experiences that strengthen your connections to the people you love and to your own heart and soul.’ Thomas Kinkade

Principles of Motherhood

If it was going to be easy, it never would have started with something called ‘labor’

The best way to keep kids at home is to make the home a pleasant atmosphere – and to let the air out of the tires.

The joy of motherhood: What a woman experiences when all the children are finally in bed.

Life’s golden age is when the kids are too old to need baby-sitters and too young to borrow the family car.

Any child can tell that the sole purpose of a middle name is so he can tell when he’s really in trouble.

Grandparents are similar to a piece of string – handy to have around and easily wrapped around the fingers of grandchildren.

There are three ways to get something done:Do it yourself, hire someone to do it, or forbid your children to do it.

Adolescence is the age when children try to bring up their parents.

Oh to be only half as wonderful as my child thought I was when he was small, and half as stupid as my teenager now thinks I am.

Money isn’t everything, but it sure keeps the kids in touch.

Adolescence is the age at which children stop asking questions because they know all the answers.

The persons hardest to convince they’re at the retirement age are children at bedtime.

Kids really brighten a household; they never turn off any lights.

Shouting to make your children obey is like using the horn to steer the car, and you get about the same results.

Mother

My day started with a little rattle at the door,I had heard footsteps, tippy toes, and whispers lingering from the hallway as soon as the morning light had slipped through my window, and the morning crows and kookaburra’s sang their morning tune.

A Special day. An acknowledgement in gratitude for our mother. Is there really a simple way to say thank you for all that she’s done for us? All the love and care that she’s given to us as a child, adolescent and even now as an adult.

Helping out at a Mother’s day stall this week. I had a glimpse from a child’s point of view, what does your mother like? The question was easy for only a few, what does your mum like doing?  The many chores were talked about, she cooks, cleans, bakes, loves the garden, helps me pick up my toys. Does she paint her nails, does she have time to exercise, does she have time for a bath?…no..how about some chocolate…she’s always on a diet! Ok..so what do you think your mother would like, as a little token to say I love you …each child bought in a present in exchange of buying another from the table. Obviously some mothers thought about sharing their illusion  presents with others…bath crystals, hand lotion, body creams, shower glamour, chocolate cook books, coffee mugs, fridge notepads…does a mother ever have enough time?

With the encouragement to make Mum happy by choosing a gift as a token that you love her..give her a kiss and a hug, say thank you Mum, and it will put a smile on her face, she’ll be happy. Every child had a smile on their face that they had a loving gift in their hands and a present from the heart for their  mum on Mother’s Day.

To my surprise I too received gifts from my niece and nephew this morning. A loving gesture as part of the family, and it too put a smile on my face.

I hope all the mothers have a lovely day today, even if it’s just a little time out from the every day routine and chores of being a mum. And every mum started with a smile on their face today from the large gesture of their child and family, saying I love you, Mum.

Textures and the ever Changing Mode.

Time has passed since my last post, and I’ve missed writing in this creative journal of mine.I’ve been itching to get back into it, truth being how do I push off from this starting point?

Do I have the opportunity to take a new innovative direction? Should I change anything? What are you as the reader wanting to read, see, hear? What am I really wanting to write, learn, cook, paint? Yes,I think it’s time to put some new colour into my world! How can I capture your intriguing eyes and voice?

I’ve had time with family and friends, reminiscing over good food, wine, music and the younger years, and interesting enough, hearing the reactions of those dear friends to this little blog of mine.

My time was also thinking about the many directions and avenues life can take us. The influences of surrounding ourselves with positive attitudes, thoughts and knowledge. Sifting through the many voices and listening to those little whispers of encouragement to move on. Those influencing whispers to strive to achieve many of my, still untouched dreams. Placing myself in the ‘right’ environment to express openly my passions and finding the answers to those little curiosities and seeing that stream of light, at the end of the tunnel.

Inspiration…

1. a. Stimulation of the mind or emotions to a high level of feeling or activity.

The photo’s that send our mind into a whirlwind and our taste buds fluttering. That special tablescape that we could only imagine owning half of those items. The view from a window that captures the ultimate feeling of the season, and the home we might only dream of, or that special place we might only dream of visiting.

b. The condition of being so stimulated.

2. An agency, such as a person or work of art, that moves the intellect or emotions or prompts action or invention.

The photo’s that make us grab for our favourite cookbook, playing and creating new tastes, cooking with our heart and kneading with our hands creating a meal of emotions…happiness, love, care and tenderness.

3. Something, such as a sudden creative act or idea, that is inspired.

The photo that inspires, giving new colour in your world. The interwoven fibers that give a mystical appearance a new texture, a new feeling, a new sense of creativity.

4. The quality of inspiring or exalting: a painting full of inspiration.

5. Divine guidance or influence exerted directly on the mind and soul of humankind.

This texture is from Sophie G’s Flickr Photostream, a French postcard effect superimposed over one of my Spring photo’s found here in Springtimes Laughter

Yes, what makes me come alive?

Visually sharing all my experiences, laughing and loving every new challenge.

Learning and trying new aspects of creativity, I realized a photo speaks a thousand words…more than I could ever imagine to write.

So, off I go weaving my way, taking on new challenges, head high and finding the strength in every new step.

And hope you’ll continue on this journey with me.

Have a wonderful day!
