Coming up Old Country Roses

Trio Royal Albert : Yellow Rosebud I have a few passions in my life…(she smiles) is it more than a few, when you need both hands and feet to count. The first few on top of the list besides art, food, photography, would have to be old antique roses (you know the ones with their fragrant perfumes, the ones that fill the whole room with their scent, and make you turn, stop, and smell the heart of a rose) china, white linen, the Victoriana Era, crystal, silver, and vintage hats and boxes…ok, the list is long. Back to the point of this new addition to the china section. I was cast under a spell, to a discounted sale of items in a shop…I wanted not to buy, but just couldn’t resist this trio, Royal Albert, Bone China, Old Country Roses, Ruby Collection – Yellow Rosebud, Made in England, which is even rarer these days to find. An hour or maybe two passed and yes, I had a number of new additions to my collections. So this …

Light eDition

I’m not sure where the week has gone, but it’s flying by… What better way than to stay focused on one day at a time and start each day with a new long list of gratitude’s and bucket list of wishes… This macro shot is one I see everyday (screensaver), it helps me to remember my theme word for twentytwelve of FOCUS…and its beautiful sunlit petals expresses my take on this weeks photo challenge theme of light with Kim Klassen, with only a subtle texture enhancement with kkplastersquared. There are two ways of spreading light; to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.  ~Edith Wharton Have a wonderful day, my friends Yvette,,,x

Sweet Blessings

A beautiful  Sunday, and Happy Mothers Day. I made a special cake for my sister today to celebrate Mother’s Day with the family. A Vanilla Strawberry Buttercake. Its the first time I’ve used this giant cupcake tin, so a little trial and error, but some great results. And some wonderful ideas for future baking were discussed by us girls….  A Mothers Blessing Thank you, Holy Father, for Your special gift of mothers; for the example of Your unconditional love they share with their children. Thank You for the mother who lets her child know without doubt he or she is loved, and for the child who returns that love. Lord, today we pray You will protect and guide mothers everywhere; that You will grant them Your wisdom in loving and teaching their children. Today, may children everywhere remember the warm caresses and whispers in the night; the tears dried and Band-Aids, the peach cobbler, the laughter; and the blood curdling scream, ‘No!’ at the brink of danger. Thank You for the mothers who played with …

The Year that was, what it was….

Here I am at the end of another year…a year that was, what it was….I’m not sure about how lucky it was, you know all that eleven lucky stuff, but it certainly proved to be an experience of highs and lows. I found pleasure behind the lens of my camera and developing those skills. I continued baking and discovering more and more my passion for the kitchen and food styling, renewed my artistic hand in design again. A talent that truly has been hidden deep within me for so long and only learning again to soar, create and fly on those wings of artistic freedom. I’ve laughed and cried, lost and gained, fought and struggled, but I’m still standing. I’ve made some really hard choices this year and I’ve counted all my blessings. Found gratitude for the little things and Give Gratitude for your support throughout twentyeleven. I’ve found some wonderfully talented people from all over the world around the blogging world, made new friends and travelled the world to catch up with long lost …

TT – The Gratitude eDition

I’m enjoying every minute of my new adventures, and today I give gratitude to those wonderful creative women I have met on this journey. Kim Klassen is one of these ladies, she’s always willing to give you an extra helping hand, with her wonderful textures and artistic skills. Catch Kim over at the Cafe here..with her captured photo today I could only wish that I could be closer to have that coffee with her. The enchanting moments of my new course The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design…has opened my eye’s to the wonderful world of patterns and colour. Rachael Taylor and Beth Nichols are extraordinary women, who for the past three weeks have had me on a new cloud and following a rainbow. Seeking new designs with nature and making me think outside the box of pattern and colour. It hasn’t been a smooth rainbow ride, but some magical carpet is taking me on a new adventure. These talented twosome are overflowing with information and the wonderful group of energized participants are all …

TT – Gratitude eDition

Well, I’m here again at the beginning of the week entering into the world of textures and photography. This weeks Texture Tuesday with Kim Klassen is to use two of her textures and capture ‘Gratitude’ in your photo. How do we start each day with a grateful heart? We give thanks that our heart is beating, we give thanks for the start of a new day…we smile and carry on! I’ve used the same original photo, (hard to believe) and have been experimenting. Non conclusive recipes this week, I just kept working on them until the image appealed to me. I give thanks for the little things today, that may well be the bigger and brighter things tomorrow. The rose bud today, that tomorrow is beaming in full bloom. The rainbow today, that brings tomorrows falling raindrops. The smile today, that may bring tomorrows friendship. Join in the fun at the cafe…have a coffee and meet the other players in the party of Texture Tuesday. Have a wonderful week, everyone. Yvette…x

Principles of Motherhood

If it was going to be easy, it never would have started with something called ‘labor’ The best way to keep kids at home is to make the home a pleasant atmosphere – and to let the air out of the tires. The joy of motherhood: What a woman experiences when all the children are finally in bed. Life’s golden age is when the kids are too old to need baby-sitters and too young to borrow the family car. Any child can tell that the sole purpose of a middle name is so he can tell when he’s really in trouble. Grandparents are similar to a piece of string – handy to have around and easily wrapped around the fingers of grandchildren. There are three ways to get something done:Do it yourself, hire someone to do it, or forbid your children to do it. Adolescence is the age when children try to bring up their parents. Oh to be only half as wonderful as my child thought I was when he was small, and half as …

In Gratitude

As the hands of the clock tick over twelve the start of the new year adorns. Thinking over the past year, of the passing moments and memories, the transparent memories of last year had all it’s usual challenges and more. A reflective year, a breaking year…a year full of love, happiness, sadness, and loss. A rollercoaster of emotions, of growing up even in my forty something year. Taking the challenge of expressing my creativity of photography, food and life. The past year I’ve grown with love in strength to take the little challenges in life of expressing gratitude in my little world for the “little” things that can make a world of difference. Looking back through my blog, I have had many highlights and expressions of the seasonal changes through the lens of the camera and the creative visual displays I’ve done, I so much enjoyed creating a visual magazine and sharing it all with you. I thank you all for visiting me within the first year of blogging and wish everyone all the best for …
