Ch.Ch.Ch.Ch….Cherry Bomb!

These Cherry Chocolate Cupcakes are the start of something big! I’m experimenting more and more limiting grains from my diet and researching more into using different flours. Hence the use of coconut and almond flours in this recipe. Searching and researching the alternatives to grains I found many changing lifestyle alternatives… Mark Sisson’s: Mark’sDailyApple –Primal Living in the Modern World; Danielle Walker’s: Against All Grain;  Jenny McGruther’s – Nourished Kitchen. I’m not very experienced cooking with other flours, so I just had to try something…after travelling a few kilometers to the nearest organic retail shop, I found coconut flour, coconut oil, coconut sugar, almond butter and a new world was introduced to me. After reading and trying the ‘normal’ every day meals, I needed to try a little dessert. Danielle at ‘Against All Grain’ (see her original recipe here) used cocoa butter,(note to self) have to buy and find this product. From my own experience of using almond meal for Macaroons, sifting  twice or even three times aerating the flour leads to better results. Isn’t there …

One for us…

I’m not sure about you, but since being immersed into the world of cupcakes, nothing is impossible, those little things once in your life are hard to get rid of. I guess we love them even more because they’re inexpensive to make, can be made in batches of twelve, our creative mind and hands can do their work and best of all they’re portioned sized…right! We take one, no more, just one and indulge in a decadence of flavours, frostings and taste sensations. All under control! I wanted to put a little pizzazz on that little cupcake…made for ‘little’ grown ups and a little surprise for those taste buds.   A red velvet cupcake mix, with a surprise dash of kirsch, cream cheese frosting and chocolate Monetta luxury cream wafers. How does that sound to get your taste buds tingling! An easy entertainer…and a great eye teaser!

Italian Almond Cupcakes

On visiting Tandy’s blog, Lavender and Lime her challenge for this week was to bake something sweet using almonds. Looking through some new acquired cookbook magazines, my Mum asked if I had tried a  recipe  – Italian Almond Cupcakes….on the same day visiting Tandy’s blog. Coincidence –  I decided to try the recipe and link back to join Tandy and her baking challenge. On further research of the recipe…the advertisement in the magazine was saying Italian Almond Cupcakes and the main ingredient  –  Dilmah’s Exceptional Tea. An adventure begins…

Take a little time

Time for a cuppa with me this afternoon and reminisce over the ‘Simple Little Pleasures’, a wonderfully written and  illustrated book by Thomas Kinkade. Full of beautiful quotes and images. ‘ Take joy in life’s simple little pleasures, and experience a new sense of romance in your life. When you put just a little time and energy into the things that bring you pleasure, make you feel alive, and affirm your special interests and talents, your world becomes more vivid and memorable. And your life becomes one you can savor, with experiences that strengthen your connections to the people you love and to your own heart and soul.’ Thomas Kinkade Take a few minutes and capture through my images our afternoon tea together. Join me in a cup of herbal infusion: Cranberry,Raspberry and Strawberry tea with butterflies, dragonflies and bugs (cupcakes). An enchanted afternoon tea. Marshmallow iced cupcakes…bugs and butterflies… A couple more minutes…read on…

Hippety Hoppety..Easter’s..on its way!

Easter nest cupcakes have been on my mind for a while now…after reading about them somewhere..(honestly can’t remember), and then finding a recipe on the back of  the mini coloured Easter eggs. The recipe used the chocolate bar flake, but I decided to make a coconut rough mixture instead and actually make a nest form. I had a few ideas for these cupcakes and sort of rolled them all into one. Read on for my Easter nest cupcake ideas…

A twinkle of a star

So I grab a cup of coffee and spend a couple of hours looking around blog world capturing wonderful interpretations of different lifestyles and kitchens. I for one enjoy this time catching up with many friends old and new, seeing what they’ve enjoyed throughout the week or day, and seeing what great ideas they have shared with us all. One of these new blogs I’ve met through a link up is “The Mixing bowl Diary”. Becky challenged herself in baking gluten free and dairy free. Experimenting with her passion of cooking: “…I take out the mixing bowls, the spoons and measuring cups and somehow the hours pass without me knowing it. Creating, recreating and taste testing my way through this new Gluten-Free world…” One of those recipes she’s shared with us for Valentines Day was Hi Hat Cupcakes Don’t they look divine! Wait and see the finishing touches Hi Hat Cupcakes . I just had to share these with all of you. “…Reminds me of a soft serve ice-cream with a hard chocolate shell…” Thanks Becky for …

St. Valentines Day

Happy St. Valentines Day to you all. Cherished memories of those we love and care for. A special day to show how we’re feeling towards the person we love and adore. Any token big or small is welcomed today. Special charms, roses, flowers, cards, candlelit dinners, kisses, hugs even a smile. What did you do today for that special someone? It’s the time of the year, to celebrate with red. Today I showed a little love by sharing these cute cupcakes. The simplest of ingredients with fine detailing of hearts. And to my special someone… I wrote your name in the sand,                                 but the waves washed it away. I wrote your name in the sky,                                 but the wind blew it away. I wrote it in my heart                                  and that’s where it will stay….   All my love, … have a wonderful day friends, Yvette…x
