TT – Red eDition

Kim Klassens cafè is boosting in brightness with this weeks Texture Tuesday Photo challenge. Use the colour red and at least one of Kim’s textures in the processing. The colour red for me is passion, love, colourful country fields of red poppies, juicy red apples and Spring rose bud blooms. I captured my photo within the gardens hide away corner of mountains of parsley, sage and mint, lavender and lemon tree blossom and threw in a vivid touch of contrasting red. Pink Lady apples. Pink Inspirational Thoughts

The first eight days of October are a rush of memories, dreams and thoughts for me. For everyday from the first to the eighth someone I know celebrates a birthday. I have to admit I’ve fallen into the jaws of modern technology, and in the rush opted to send electronic messages by phone and social networking sites, but with inspirational comments this week and visual boards that I created today, I’ve been inspired to make my own cards, write in them, create a little something special  in each and send them to everyone of my friends and family. Written, signed, sealed and delivered!   We all know that giving or sending greeting cards is a simple and effective way of staying in touch, adding a truly personal touch and reaching out to those we care about, but where did the greeting card come from? The first civilization to employ the use of greeting cards was the ancient Chinese, who used them for the purpose of conveying New Year’s wishes. The earliest paper greeting card in …

TT – Gratitude eDition

Well, I’m here again at the beginning of the week entering into the world of textures and photography. This weeks Texture Tuesday with Kim Klassen is to use two of her textures and capture ‘Gratitude’ in your photo. How do we start each day with a grateful heart? We give thanks that our heart is beating, we give thanks for the start of a new day…we smile and carry on! I’ve used the same original photo, (hard to believe) and have been experimenting. Non conclusive recipes this week, I just kept working on them until the image appealed to me. I give thanks for the little things today, that may well be the bigger and brighter things tomorrow. The rose bud today, that tomorrow is beaming in full bloom. The rainbow today, that brings tomorrows falling raindrops. The smile today, that may bring tomorrows friendship. Join in the fun at the cafe…have a coffee and meet the other players in the party of Texture Tuesday. Have a wonderful week, everyone. Yvette…x

TT -The ‘do’ eDition

Texture Tuesday this week with Kim Klassen is to use one of her new textures ‘Autumn Burst’ and the verb to ‘do’. I actually this week took a photo from my archives of images and added a quote from Denis Waitley… ‘Everything is something you decide to do, and there is nothing you have to do’ My image for this week: Photo1: Original Twistedvines + kkautumnburst + highlights 35% + shadow 60% + sharpen + glow + added half tint (Picasa3)   Kim shared with us a favourite manifesto of hers,  this poster can be purchased here , Kim is actually giving a copy away to a lucky TT subscriber… take a reflective moment and have a read… ‘Live your Dream and Share your Passion’ Have a great week everyone, Yvette…x

Virtual InSpiration.

I don’t know about you, but I have a huge collection of my favourite blog sites, that I continuously visit, on my computer. I have bought (lost count) so many hardcover books, and stacked them in corners and displayed them on coffee tables and book shelves. I have suitcases of magazines and scrapbooks of pages. Too heavy to move! Do you have story boards of your favourite photo’s, your dream home, or places to visit, your favourite recipes, your colour palette of love, dreaming and maybe even lust….its not a wish list ( is it? )  it’s beyond that …it’s a convoy of  trucks… loads of wishes. OK, so a story board in front of your face all day is fine, a little cluttered, a little messy. Or the front of the fridge is all magnated out, and there’s no more space. Here’s a great way to make inspirational boards of your favourite things. Have you come across Pinterest or follow someone on Pinterest. Come follow me…here. The best part is that any photo you find …

A Circle of friends

Sometimes life gets so busy, we change, things change us. Sometimes directions in life are easy, sometimes a little harder. We all set ourselves goals, day by day, week by week…month by month…and even next year. Every week I set myself some weekly goals to visit my circle of friends. Those whose blogs I adore to look at, read, comment and get inspired from. Our circles of friends are all different. We all have different passions. Those who write poems, who create in their kitchens, who paint, who make tea, who capture things through the lens…and you my friend, are part of my circle, and how lonely my life would be without you. Today, I wanted to share with you, a reflective corner of blue and white. The changing blue skies and those soft romantic white clouds, are finally appearing and reflecting a new Spring/ Summer . “The whole earth was brimming sunshine that morning. She tripped along, the clear sky pouring liquid blue into her soul”  Theodore Dreiser Blue and White china mugs…can’t …

TT – Back to School eDition

Summer Vacation is drawing to a close on the other side of the world and this is the inspiration behind Kim Klassens Texture Tuesday Challenge. Thinking on today’s subject there are of course some obvious objects that remind me of school. Pencils, pens, books, apples, learning tools and these are my inspirations for these photo’s. Photo1 Recipe: original photo:yvettes twistedvines + kkcoolgrunge + kk123 + highlights 60% + black&white film + film grain 40% (Picasa 3) Photo2 Recipe: original photo: yvettes twistedvines + kk123 + kkpaperscript + highlights.(Picasa 3) Photo3 recipe: original photo yvettes twistedvines + kk123 + kkcoolgrunge + soft focus + film grain  (Picasa 3) I love changing an image by the use of textures, and thanks to Kim Klassen I’m learning more and more each week. It’s still all an experiment and I can sometimes get carried away…but that’s all part of the fun of learning. Join in today’s challenge or just go and visit  Kim Klassens Cafe and look at all the inspirational creations for Back to School eDition. Have a great …

TT – Camellia Rose

One of our Winter beauties is the Camellia. This one in bloom with variegated petals of red and white. Each petal forming a soft delicate flower its distinct unique design and beauty. I’m linking this photo up to Texture Tuesday with Kim Klassen. Today’s theme is the Aurora eDition, which we had to use her new texture  ‘Aurora’. A delicate overlay with  light scripted cornices. Had a bit of fun with this over the top photo shoot, not real elegant, the things you do for a top styling shot! LOL! As a design point of view, don’t you just love the intricacy of these middle petals of the Camellia. Just stunning!   And I just love these water reflections and shadows. A couple of extra overlaying here: KKAurora + adjustments in Picnik, Vignette – 17% + Boost 11% + highlights + text This gives me the impression of  watercolour paper, I’d love to gift wrap you a special gift using this paper! How about you? I couldn’t resist placing a little extra perfume pink, and …

Black Beauty

If there’s one thing that I can’t resist its a rose, her beauty and her perfume. This week saw the last of the rose blooms in the garden, and the scent of black beauty just had to be brought inside to perfume the whole house for the last time before Spring blooms again. Hope you have some special time on the weekend, some leisure time to walk around your garden, and maybe smell the roses. Yvette…x
