Gingered Black

Here’s another design I was lucky to find from the Schweppes Limited Edition of vintage pin up girls, hailed from the 1920’s – 1950’s. This wonderful collection celebrated the historic style of Schweppes Ginger Ale, Lemonade, Soda Water and Indian Tonic Water. You can see the Indian Tonic Water bottle I found with blooming delicate roses. Designed by the Australian Design Agency Di Donato. Playing with PaintShop ProX…Black Pattern 1..playing can be fun! White eDition

I thought I would have found a little more time this week to do the things I love…but here I am and it’s Friday tomorrow. This weeks Texture Tuesday with Kim Klassen was to use one of Kims fabulous textures and the image to centre around the colour White…White, my favourite colour, light, purity, clean crisp white. Some weeks ago,(actually, the truth maybe now a month ago) I was visiting a place so dear to my heart a beautiful place where friends have gathered, laughed and cried. A place where I find refuge amongst the Australian eucalypts and cool soft nightly breezes. Awaken to the king of roosters and hear the symphonies of birds, and the cry of peacocks.Yes, that cry of peacocks…a bevy of peacocks. They are beautiful, but oh!, such a piercing loud call.                                   Photo Recipe: Original photo Yvettes Twistedvines + kim klassens textures:  kkawaken + kkorganic + adjustments of light and shadow. A Colourful Week

I know you’re all busy just as I am for this time of the year, and we still have to wait! Always for something, even if it’s the red traffic light to turn green…to go.. And how do you feel when we see that red light turn green? Or the second that you know that green light has changed to amber and yes you have to stop! How do colours make you feel? The cool blue, aqua colour of the ocean.(The memory of a holiday, relaxation) The green colour of a lush shady overhanging tree.(That wonderful picnic and nature walk) The rich bright colour of a sunset,(holding hands with your partner) or the grey cloudy sky of a thunderstorm (Rushing to take cover). Colours trigger emotions within us. This was one of the exercises this week in my e-course The Art and Business Surface Pattern Design. Making a colour palette of odds and ends around the house, we had to then add an accent colour and see how visually it changes. Throw a little colour …

White

If there was one colour in my life, I’d have to say  W H I T E. Why? I love the crispness, the cleanliness and purity of how a room can change. Could we be safe and happy behind our white picket fences around our homes? The colour of  food brought out on a clean white plate. The framing of a room with clean white walls. The tone of our skin under a crisp white linen shirt. The outside view looking through a white window frame. “ The first of all single colors is white…We shall set down white for the representative of light, without which no color can be seen, yellow for the earth; green for water; blue for air; red for fire; and black for total darkness.” Leonardo Di Vinci White is the colour that belongs to the feng shui element of Metal. It’s feng shui energy is crisp, clear, clean and fresh. White is the colour of beginnings, as well as clear endings.White is the most versatile colour that can help brighten …
