Ch.Ch.Ch.Ch….Cherry Bomb!

These Cherry Chocolate Cupcakes are the start of something big! I’m experimenting more and more limiting grains from my diet and researching more into using different flours. Hence the use of coconut and almond flours in this recipe. Searching and researching the alternatives to grains I found many changing lifestyle alternatives… Mark Sisson’s: Mark’sDailyApple –Primal Living in the Modern World; Danielle Walker’s: Against All Grain;  Jenny McGruther’s – Nourished Kitchen. I’m not very experienced cooking with other flours, so I just had to try something…after travelling a few kilometers to the nearest organic retail shop, I found coconut flour, coconut oil, coconut sugar, almond butter and a new world was introduced to me. After reading and trying the ‘normal’ every day meals, I needed to try a little dessert. Danielle at ‘Against All Grain’ (see her original recipe here) used cocoa butter,(note to self) have to buy and find this product. From my own experience of using almond meal for Macaroons, sifting  twice or even three times aerating the flour leads to better results. Isn’t there …

TT – The Outside eDition

‘Sunshine Ripples’ This week has been awesome. Busy, exciting and inspirational. How about yours? This week, Kim offered a different challenge, that we might like to take a walk in the outdoors and take as many photo’s as we saw fit. This was the early morning sunshine just behind these marvelous trees as I went for my early morning walk. Wonderful sunshine beams and radiant warmth, to chase the crisp air of a Winters morning away. Linking to: Yvette…x

TT – Natural eDition

I have to say, I’m enjoying the holidays…spending time with family, friends and enjoying my e-courses.In between not so nice Winter weather, rain and fog, I sneaked in a few photos on the natural charm of nature. Colours and textures that were around me and really taking the time to soak in the beauty of the outdoors. These camellia’s are just beautiful. Although it’s been cold, I have to admit I’ve enjoyed the time sitting in front of the fire reading The Fifty Shades Trilogy…say no more! I’m on a Mission

Day 1 & 2  Behind the Scenes “When you have something to write, get on with it.” So, that’s what I have intention of doing, just going with the flow. I’m participating in Kims & Xanthes Behind the Scenes: A creative guide to blogging your Passion on line course. With Kim & Xanthe at my side, we’re part of a group of innovative and creative souls. Inspiration flowing from all over the world. We’ve only just started, but there’s such enthusiasm and strong energy I know I’m going to enjoy this journey. As I’ve been only blogging for a couple of years, ‘blogging’ was a means of communicating with family and friends, of showing them where I lived in Italy, sharing my new culinary cuisine and the extreme climate changes, so different of what I was used to in Australia. Moving to another country has really ‘changed’ me, in so many ways. I have said it before and still to this day, moving to another country, with a different language, customs and politics wasn’t easy, …

Soup Kitchen: Corn & Chicken

Here’s one of those quick light lunches, for you. One that is going to warm you up. Cuddle you… and we all need cuddling! A very tasty Corn & Chicken Soup. Not a soup that I’ve made before, but was teased to try the flavours. I’ve always seen  it on menu’s but have never tried it. It’s funny how the cooler days, we reach for boiling water, stock cubes and vegetables to satisfy our taste buds. Read on for the recipe…

TT – Flowers

This weeks Texture Tuesday with Kim Klassen, isn’t so much the subject matter – flowers…I love photographing flowers as many of you have seen before. It’s actually the point at which I venture out of the warmth of inside the house…of a Winter dreary day, and look around the garden, not to find too much to photograph. The hint of the final lavender amongst the rosemary, and the tiniest rose buds screaming from the leafless branches of rose bushes. Sometimes the simplest of things, and the dull of light can give us something truly beautiful.   I’ve been wanting to take photographs of this bottle for ages…I just love it. I’m a tonic water drinker, and just adored this limited edition collection that Schweppes Australia distributed. The series is a collection of 1920’s – 1950’s pin up girls.See the full collection in the inspiration room. I’ve had these photo images in my mind for ages…and it was truly magical inspiration to see these photos come alive. original photo twistedvines + kkchase +light/shadow adjustments. original photo …

Autumn Holidays

Busy days of late.  Autumn term break starts at the end of this week, and looking forward to time spent with ‘calmer’ days around home, behind the camera, and in the kitchen. Joining forces with my sister to prepare this morning tea: Fresh home made sushi, spring vegetable rolls, deep fried feta stuffed olives sticks, curried egg, honey leg ham and mustard tiered sandwiches, home made curried puffs, cream corn and tuna vol au vents, mascarpone, sun dried tomato and basil pesto pin wheels. Have a great week, Yvette…x
