12 Days of Textures

How exciting is this! Another couple of days, actually 12 days of new textures, and a lot more learning and creating with Kim Klassen. Today’s texture KK’lilly’ is lightly dabbled with music notes…I used this image also in a post here, and wanted to create something new with it…I loved the black and white image, and the subtle glow point hinting of the vibrant orange persimmons. The harshness of the freezing snow creates for me a ‘wonder in awe’ emotion…natures way of preserving goodness. Have a great day, Yvette…x

Christmas Tree.

‘Twas the write before Christmas #4 ‘This one will do fine, this one is perfect!.’ The tree I have happy memories of. It’s the tree that took me on an adventure with Daddy. The forest was filled with trees, but to find the perfect one, wasn’t my choice at all, it was Daddy’s choice. He knew which one was best to take home, he knew which one would make Mummy smile. Riding in the rusty pick-up was always the adventure I looked forward to every year, I’d stretch my neck to see the road, but Daddy knew the way, he always found the way. I was content to ride in that rusty truck, it was my time with Daddy to go on our special trip to find our special tree. Not too small, and not too big…the perfect tree. Our Christmas tree. I knew that scent, the perfume of pines. I love the smell of the pines, the undercroft bed of pointed needles, just like a prickly porcupine, and the intriguing shape of the pine …

TT – Let’s Celebrate

recipe: original photo twistedvines + kkmusicsheet + highlights 43% This final Texture Tuesday with Kim Klassen and all the other participants for 2011 is indeed a celebration. One which has taken me on a journey this year celebrating all the wonderful images captured behind the lens. I’ve learnt truly so much this past year about photography, textures, the things I love and the emotions that one image can hold. Images that when I look back over the year have made me smile, content and extremely happy of my achievements in extending my knowledge and passion for photography. Sometimes by extreme luck and good timing to capture one of natures beauties, or the persistence from within ( … the little pedantic streak in me) to get that set up shot just ‘right’. And with the passing of this ‘changing’ year, I look forward to new things, beautiful images and life’s challenges. Some of my favourites for 2011… TT: Camellia Rose TT: Back to School TT: Red   TT: three eDition TT: Vintage TT: La Dolce Vita …

A Colourful Week

I know you’re all busy just as I am for this time of the year, and we still have to wait! Always for something, even if it’s the red traffic light to turn green…to go.. And how do you feel when we see that red light turn green? Or the second that you know that green light has changed to amber and yes you have to stop! How do colours make you feel? The cool blue, aqua colour of the ocean.(The memory of a holiday, relaxation) The green colour of a lush shady overhanging tree.(That wonderful picnic and nature walk) The rich bright colour of a sunset,(holding hands with your partner) or the grey cloudy sky of a thunderstorm (Rushing to take cover). Colours trigger emotions within us. This was one of the exercises this week in my e-course The Art and Business Surface Pattern Design. Making a colour palette of odds and ends around the house, we had to then add an accent colour and see how visually it changes. Throw a little colour …

A trail of Inspiration.

My starting point for this trail of inspiration not more than 24hours ago lead me onto many winding paths of colour, inspiration and acknowledgement of pure talent. One of the things on my ‘to do’ list was that for this month I would stay focused and blog a post every Saturday on Beverly’s Pink Saturday for the month of October as a reminder of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Take a couple of ‘clicks’ backwards, and although I’m not always finding time to post and create, within the solitude of my bedroom of an evening, I visit bogging friends, leave comments and join in the circle of friendship, that I so love to be a part of. Here’s my winding trail: I started with a visit to Celia at Fig Jam and Lime Cordial, where she had her  monthly feature look at what’s ‘In my Kitchen’, Turkish ceramics, wild ginger drinks, and vegetarian paella to name a few, take a look and maybe join in. Sometimes when you visit friends, you spend a little extra time …

Virtual InSpiration.

I don’t know about you, but I have a huge collection of my favourite blog sites, that I continuously visit, on my computer. I have bought (lost count) so many hardcover books, and stacked them in corners and displayed them on coffee tables and book shelves. I have suitcases of magazines and scrapbooks of pages. Too heavy to move! Do you have story boards of your favourite photo’s, your dream home, or places to visit, your favourite recipes, your colour palette of love, dreaming and maybe even lust….its not a wish list ( is it? )  it’s beyond that …it’s a convoy of  trucks… loads of wishes. OK, so a story board in front of your face all day is fine, a little cluttered, a little messy. Or the front of the fridge is all magnated out, and there’s no more space. Here’s a great way to make inspirational boards of your favourite things. Have you come across Pinterest or follow someone on Pinterest. Come follow me…here. The best part is that any photo you find …

A Circle of friends

Sometimes life gets so busy, we change, things change us. Sometimes directions in life are easy, sometimes a little harder. We all set ourselves goals, day by day, week by week…month by month…and even next year. Every week I set myself some weekly goals to visit my circle of friends. Those whose blogs I adore to look at, read, comment and get inspired from. Our circles of friends are all different. We all have different passions. Those who write poems, who create in their kitchens, who paint, who make tea, who capture things through the lens…and you my friend, are part of my circle, and how lonely my life would be without you. Today, I wanted to share with you, a reflective corner of blue and white. The changing blue skies and those soft romantic white clouds, are finally appearing and reflecting a new Spring/ Summer . “The whole earth was brimming sunshine that morning. She tripped along, the clear sky pouring liquid blue into her soul”  Theodore Dreiser Blue and White china mugs…can’t …
