Kaleidoscope Colours

Mere colour, unspoiled by meaning, and unallied with definite form, can speak to the soul in a thousand different ways. – Oscar Wilde   Colors, like features, follow the changes of the emotions. – Pablo Picasso The color of the object illuminated partakes of the color of that which illuminates it. – Leonardo di Vinci The purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love color the most. – John Ruskin Wishing you a colourful Friday….Yvette x

tt – The Look Down eDition

This weeks Texture Tuesday theme is ‘look down’. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to photograph this beautiful rose, and it’s unusual colours. Soft pink petals each outlined with a soft tinged green. I can’t tell tell you the name of it as I bought a bunch while out shopping. The recipe for today’s photo is very much a jumble, however I can tell you that I used the latest texture of Kim Klassen’s ‘Dream-it’. I’ve also been experimenting with my photographs and making kaleidoscopes with their colours…   This design is from the exact same rose photo, using the software Paintshop Pro x. You can try it out with their 30 day trial here. Lot’s of fun! Have a great day,….Yvette x

TT – The not necessarily textured eDition

So it’s an anything goes week..in more than one way for me this week. I’ve gone back to study, and I’m feeling positive…and grateful that I have this possibility to take a little time to find a new direction to support and enhance  – ME. “At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person.  Each one of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” –Albert  Schweiter Nobel Peace Prize – Winning Medical Missionary & Philosopher.   I’m a reader, and yes most of the time it’s in the comfort of my own space, or in front of a computer, I had thought and still may take another on-line course, but this course I’m taking at the moment has the extra interaction of physically meeting new people and sharing so many aspects of ‘classroom’ social interaction. I found a little time behind the lens to capture a few photo’s and play around with light and shadow. Have a great …

Soup Kitchen -Tomato & Lentil

Lentils are the most inexpensive source of protein, but my oh! my, they are delicious in this tomato soup. I love a rich, tasty soup, and with the colder weather it sure warms up the insides, low in calories, and packed with flavour. I’ve been following the New Slimmer Mediterranean Diet by Harry Papas, I can only imagine how wonderful it would be to call into Maria’s and Eleni’s Taverna ( Harry’s Mum and Aunties Restaurant) in Fiscardo on Cefalonia Island in Greece, where some of these recipes are on their menu, sit by the bluest of seas surrounded by mountains, and enjoy the company of Greece. “Studies continue to show that following a Mediterranean – style diet, which incorporates the traditional foods of the Mediterranean regions of Greece and parts of France and Italy, is beneficial to our health on a number of levels. From lowering the risk of heart attack and stroke,to warding off cognitive impairment as well as Type2 diabetes, cancer, and even obesity. …it was primarily plant based grains, lean protein …

A kind of Beautiful

It’s time to face the music… self portrait It’s been a changing moment…or is it just one point that I’ve arrived at before, started and then found a different direction. Are we ever happy with the now? I’ll do that when…I’m feeling happy, when I’m ten kilo’s lighter, when I meet the right person, when! , when?, when. Let’s just start living the now. I’m at this point again, lift my head high and face the music, however this time I’m writing the music and my own lyrics. Start enjoying every little ‘moment’. Enjoy the company of family, the company of friends, but most importantly know who that person in the mirror really is, the reflective you. With all the extra lines of time, the freckles, the blemishes. My journey with Kim Klassen and Beyond Layers, ( Beyond Layers II registrations now open) has been just that a journey of peeling back so many emotions, so many feelings, grasping for air, a ray of sunshine or a falling tear. Beyond Layers is 52 weeks of …

[Texture Tuesday] Black and White eDition

Marshmallow Velvet We are surrounded by colour every day…and often everything around us seems complicated. So for a moment lets look at something in plain black and white. This weeks photo challenge with Kim Klassen is to create a photo in black and white and use one of her many creative textures. I’ve used the texture ‘organic’ and just love the extra softness of the edges. I also love the dappled texture of the eggs. The title for this photo is Marshmallow Velvet…I’ve been creative (finally again) in the kitchen making red velvet cakes and covering them in icing and marshmallows…I love the phrase black and white in Italian…switch them around Bianco Nero. Have a wonderful week friends… Yvette…x ‘’A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart, and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words’

Bay of Fires, Bingalong Bay

Catching a couple of iron birds last weekend, my destination was Bingalong Bay, a region on the north east coast of Tasmania. The Bay of Fires is world renowned for its extraordinary natural beauty, intense colours and dramatic luminous light. The coast line is an area of sun drenched beaches and is broken by famous orange lichen covered granite rock formations. And a walk at sunset, it was discovered these lichen covered rocks turn a bright flashy red. Incredible to witness and one of natures truly magnificent magical moments. (Please note) The above photos have no colour enhancement. Read on to discover more of this beautiful natural escape.

TT – The Happy Heart eDition

Striking Pinks Original photo: Yvettes Twistedvines + kkhappy heart texture. For the last month I have been receiving a ‘daily truth from the Brave Girls Club’. By subscription you receive each day a free gift of words, and I so wanted to share these words with you…and share a happy heart with me. Dear Sweetheart Girl,When living a brave and uncommon life, things are never going to be the same, ever. We are constantly learning the new ways to do things, and the best ways to do things. We are often surviving through broken heartedness and growing stronger to get us to the next path of growth. We are always seeing new and beautiful things, and extracting the gifts, lessons and beauty out of everything, including the painful parts. We are always always always becoming, always. We were never meant to stay stagnant. We were never meant to “arrive” and to stay in the same place forever. Life’s greatest joy comes in creating and being a creation, in creating things that did not exist before …

Just enough

Starting the Beyond Layers with Kim Klassen this week. It’s been an amazing start to a new creative journey. Introducing ourselves to everyone from all parts of the world, and sharing our ‘creative’ stories, our journey of how and why we’ve arrived at this point and continue to travel and weave on life’s experiences. With no boundaries and limits we were to write our own individual creative story, honest and from within, listening to our deeper voice, however this little bird has still a few ruffled feathers, and even though my voice is small and quiet for now, in time will sing a beautiful song. This week… our first photographic challenge was with an image…say more…with less. Less is more. ~Ludwig Mies van der Rohe Less colour enhancing in our photo’s, more natural tones, more light and creativity showing the viewer a more simplistic image, and captivate them in a moment of wonder. original photo twistedvines + kk awaken texture original photo twistedvines + kk zuzu texture original photo twistedvines + kk lola These cotton …

Cool or Warm

This quote was placed in front of my eyes, only this week and thought I’d share it with you. If you want to see the Sunshine, you have to weather the storm.  – Frank Lane This quote rings in my ears, how true… I’ve been celebrating the 12 days of textures with Kim Klassen and looking at my photo’s today, there’s the strong contrast of cool and warm colours,     Cool or warm which appeals to you… Winter wonderland for Christmas, or Summer warming sunshine rays? Not long to go… Yvette…x
