Express it…

This challenge from Beyond Layers with Kim Klassen, has thrown a spanner in the works so to speak. Once you start creating and the imagination flows freely, six little memoirs are a delight to write. Stemming from a flow of inspirational articles (Oprah magazine): 26 ways to tell your story and sites(Smith Magazine): 6 word memoirs , our challenge was to write our own 6 word memoirs…our life in six words…you can write, rewrite and express yourself as many times as you like…just in six little words. Believe me, when you start this exercise you can capture every aspect of your life in six little memoirs from love, happiness, breakup, food, being a mum, a dad, dreaming… It’s hard to stop at one….I wrote a few and capture one in this photo Balance everything. Weigh only the love. And a couple more…. Creative hands and my heart open. Coloured pens drawing black and white Can’t start my day without coffee. Ok, enough….I think you get the gist of what the challenge was about… You might …

Advent Cheer

Theirs are the little fingers, who can’t yet tie a bow, theirs are the smiles that you see with sparkle in their eyes, theirs are the cheers at the time of play…a little group of friends who each Sunday we meet and say a little prayer together, play a little song, sing and dance together and learn and listen to stories. The past couple of months I have been teaching Children’s Liturgy, a little group of people with big hearts and armfuls of hugs and love…and who have also taught me to take the time, and cherish the ‘ah ha’ moments… Advent is a time of preparation, and the last couple of weeks we’ve been preparing an Advent Christmas wreath for the Red Cross Christmas Wreath and Tree Competition. With so many new and exciting idea’s, we decided on the Advent colour of purple combining tulle, ribbons, baubles and of course some bling, I made these little signs…using hot silicone glue and white paint, the words Peace, Love, Hope (purple candles) Joy (pink candle) and Christ …

Zentangles

You know when you’re on the telephone, talking away, and you reach for that pen, and start doodling, over in the top right hand corner of the nearest notebook. Well, I’ve discovered those doodles within a frame are your Zentangles your creative side…Why not try this method of art. Making patterns, doodling in order to have an end result; a piece of artwork. It’s relaxing, It’s enjoyable…. It’s fun… …and it’s very, very easy. . and I know you’ve tried it! What’s a Zentangle? Zentangle was originated by Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts in Massachusetts, USA in 2005. It is a combination of deliberate pen strokes to create patterns, while exercising and relaxing the brain. Here’s my first attempt… Within a 9cm x 9cm square, draw a ‘string’ which is a freehand continuous line and shape. Within this shape, these area’s are filled in by repetitive shapes called ‘tangles’,  there are many suggested tangles or create your own… you a free to create what ever comes to mind. Some years back while doing my graphic’s …

Virtual InSpiration.

I don’t know about you, but I have a huge collection of my favourite blog sites, that I continuously visit, on my computer. I have bought (lost count) so many hardcover books, and stacked them in corners and displayed them on coffee tables and book shelves. I have suitcases of magazines and scrapbooks of pages. Too heavy to move! Do you have story boards of your favourite photo’s, your dream home, or places to visit, your favourite recipes, your colour palette of love, dreaming and maybe even lust….its not a wish list ( is it? )  it’s beyond that …it’s a convoy of  trucks… loads of wishes. OK, so a story board in front of your face all day is fine, a little cluttered, a little messy. Or the front of the fridge is all magnated out, and there’s no more space. Here’s a great way to make inspirational boards of your favourite things. Have you come across Pinterest or follow someone on Pinterest. Come follow me…here. The best part is that any photo you find …

TT – Camellia Rose

One of our Winter beauties is the Camellia. This one in bloom with variegated petals of red and white. Each petal forming a soft delicate flower its distinct unique design and beauty. I’m linking this photo up to Texture Tuesday with Kim Klassen. Today’s theme is the Aurora eDition, which we had to use her new texture  ‘Aurora’. A delicate overlay with  light scripted cornices. Had a bit of fun with this over the top photo shoot, not real elegant, the things you do for a top styling shot! LOL! As a design point of view, don’t you just love the intricacy of these middle petals of the Camellia. Just stunning!   And I just love these water reflections and shadows. A couple of extra overlaying here: KKAurora + adjustments in Picnik, Vignette – 17% + Boost 11% + highlights + text This gives me the impression of  watercolour paper, I’d love to gift wrap you a special gift using this paper! How about you? I couldn’t resist placing a little extra perfume pink, and …
