Texture Tuesday – free & easy eDition

With every crack and chipped painted wall, (signs of a child, who hung posters on her wall), there’s something about returning to the four walls of a house, you call ‘home’. Reminiscing of many good times and sad ones, having the comforts at your fingertips and your Mum, home cooking and wanting do do everything for you, just as it was when you were a small child. I’m enjoying the Easter break holiday vacation time, relaxing with my camera and a couple of good books. (novels and a few inspirational cookbooks), writing up my next school programs and catching up with long time friends. Photographing the last of Mum’s flowering rose blooms, capturing them in the early morning stream of light from a window for a Texture Tuesday shot. Experimenting with composition, and light sources, and learning my new camera. Just a little time for me.(sigh!) I love the transparency of the rose petals… Beautiful roses, and just a little subtle texture. Free and Easy for this weeks Texture Tuesday. Linking to Kim Klassens Cafe. Have …

[Texture Tuesday] Black and White eDition

Marshmallow Velvet We are surrounded by colour every day…and often everything around us seems complicated. So for a moment lets look at something in plain black and white. This weeks photo challenge with Kim Klassen is to create a photo in black and white and use one of her many creative textures. I’ve used the texture ‘organic’ and just love the extra softness of the edges. I also love the dappled texture of the eggs. The title for this photo is Marshmallow Velvet…I’ve been creative (finally again) in the kitchen making red velvet cakes and covering them in icing and marshmallows…I love the phrase black and white in Italian…switch them around Bianco Nero. Have a wonderful week friends… Yvette…x ‘’A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart, and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words’

White eDition

I thought I would have found a little more time this week to do the things I love…but here I am and it’s Friday tomorrow. This weeks Texture Tuesday with Kim Klassen was to use one of Kims fabulous textures and the image to centre around the colour White…White, my favourite colour, light, purity, clean crisp white. Some weeks ago,(actually, the truth maybe now a month ago) I was visiting a place so dear to my heart a beautiful place where friends have gathered, laughed and cried. A place where I find refuge amongst the Australian eucalypts and cool soft nightly breezes. Awaken to the king of roosters and hear the symphonies of birds, and the cry of peacocks.Yes, that cry of peacocks…a bevy of peacocks. They are beautiful, but oh!, such a piercing loud call.                                   Photo Recipe: Original photo Yvettes Twistedvines + kim klassens textures:  kkawaken + kkorganic + adjustments of light and shadow. Embrace eDition

Don’t fear change – embrace it.                                            Anthony J. D’Angelo Busy Bee Macro Photo Twistedvines + Embrace Texture by Kim Klassen We all fear the unknown, we all have our routines. And wouldn’t it be a boring place if we knew everything that was going to happen to us. How do we stay focused on the many wonderful things we have and then have lost. Gone, in a moment. Another moment gone by – lost in the past. What happened in that moment – I had control of my life, and can only do what I feel right to do in each moment. Our approaches to moments in time become our life. Can that next moment be an empty space, or maybe we should just   e m b r a c e  it as its own mystical place. How many times have you thought of something new, a new idea, heard a new voice and grasped that moment, that thrill or spark to reach for the unknown and embrace the moment. Our past experiences …

TT – Phoebe eDition

It’s been an inspiring week with Kim Klassen, who over the last few weeks has been talking about her wonderful inspirational week away with the group ‘shutter sisters’. Her sisterhood bonds and her dreams. We all have dreams, I know I have many and I’m finally finding the path, the strength from within to share those dreams… Today’s photo was taken by my niece when she visited Floriade Australia’s Spring festival. Just beautiful coloured tulips, and the curly petals I love…I called it ‘Dancing Tulips’. A photographer in the making…the texture ‘phobe’ was also inspired by one of Kim’s friends daughters…only fitting to join the two. Joining in TT over at the cafe of Kim Klassen  Have a great day everyone Yvette…x

TT – The ‘AndThenSome’ eDition

I don’t know about any of the other participants of TT, but it was missed last week. The whole of last week passed me by in a flash and no sooner I turned round, I had missed the whole week. And now it’s Texture Tuesday already. This week our challenge was to use Kim Klassen’s texture ‘And Then Some’.   I know, it’s a strange thing when even a dry wrinkled ruffled petal rose bloom, can still be attractive and inspirational for me to photograph. This rose is called ‘Peace’. Photo recipe: Both Photo 1 and 2 have the texture ‘And then Some’. Photo 3 has the additional texture – ‘Autumnburst’ Visit Kim Klassen’s Cafe here and see some of the other works of art. Have a great day, everyone Yvette…x

TT – Spring Blossom ‘Crackerjack’ eDition

Spring is on its way…Yeehaw! This weeks Texture Tuesday  party challenge with Kim Klassen is that we have to incorporate her new texture ‘crakerjack’. It’s a FUNtastic texture giving a photo a glazed crackle effect. I love this effect and let me tell you, to actually get this effect on any of your arty crafty objects it takes time and patience, waiting for paint to dry and the crackle  effect to magically appear. So much easier with a add button in our photographic software, with combinations of all sorts of adjustments to light and tones. I couldn’t decide on which one I liked the most, so I uploaded all three… What’s your opinion, tell me which one caresses your emotions and inspires Spring Fever. A cloudless sky, a world of heather. Purple of foxglove, yellow of broom; We two among it, wading together, Shaking out honey, treading perfume. Crowds of bees are giddy with clover Crowds of grasshoppers skip at our feet, Crowds of larks at their matins hangover, Thanking the Lord for a life so …
